More Than You Wanted To Know
(About Custom
and Handmade Knives)
| "His story was just like dozens and dozens Id heard
over the years. Excuses for quitting, retired garage wannabe makers who spot a blade at a
show sitting on a table for 800 bucks and think to themselves,
"I can do that- easy
money." So try it, I say. Show me. And I can show you thousands of
almost
good knives, where the maker had got lazy, or tired, or is just plain blind and puts a
piece on the table that carries with it a gallon bag of excuses. Mirror finishing is one
of them. Most guys dont. But they might go into a long detailed explanation about
how you can take a microscope and examine every sandpaper mark on the blade and
theyre all in perfect alignment and of uniform depth. Please spare me... The worst
part is that some clients are ignorant enough to believe this malarkey.
The truth is there is no easy way. If there was, you would
see blades like mine coming out of Pakistan for a few bucks, and people wouldnt be
handing me wads of cash for near perfection. And they do. The ones that know what
theyre looking at dont even blink. Some even throw in an extra hundred just
for my effort. Military and cops are that way. But those guys trust their lives to my
blades. When fifty knot winds are ripping at your back and you have to climb up an algae-coated snot rig hanging on the side of a rusty Korean cargo ship to save a sailors
life, and you get tangled upside down and seawater is punching down your gullet, you wanna
know the knife you unlock from its stainless steel, kydex, and aluminum sheath is
gonna save your life with one pass. Just ask a United States Air Force
Pararescueman." |

Testimonial
I've continued to peruse your site and have shown several
of my associates the incredible work. I'm a CPA, former clinical
psychologist, and have brought in some of my attempts from the
shop. They now understand what real quality is, and what "messing
around" is as well. I told my partner that if you had lived in
Florence during the Renaissance, we would probably know of you as
Donatello or Bruilessci or one of the major artists with that gift
for perfecting the tiniest detail.
I look forward to keeping up with your new work and selecting
just the right piece for my office.
