  • Handle: Ziricote Exotic Hardwood

  • Knife: Custom made for one of our country's finest warriors currently serving in Afghanistan. This knife is a variation from Jay's Calisto pattern. The blade is made of 440C high chromium stainless steel making it very wear resistant and durable with extremely high corrosion resistance. The client wanted a double edged blade, so the top grind was accomplished with a small contact wheel to produce a thin edge and maintain substantial spine strength and has 4 inches of serious vampire rip-teeth serrations. The main grind is deep and well-matched and offers a razor-keen single bevel cutting edge. The blade is bead-blasted for glare reduction and is fully file worked from the thumb rise to the choil with a bold pattern. The knife is bolstered with zero-care high chromium, high nickel austenitic stainless steel that is satin finished. The front bolster has a nice quillon and the rear bolster has a chamfered through-tang lanyard hole for security. The knife is handled with hard, tough Ziricote exotic hardwood scales. The Ziricote is dovetailed and bedded, secured to the tang with six stainless steel pins. This knife feels comfortable, secure, and meaty in the hand.
  • Sheath: The client requested an unusual sheath for this knife requiring a 45 degree angle to the belt line with a left side cross draw. We started with double thickness Kydex thermo-formed over a welt frame of 5052H32 corrosion resistant, high strength aluminum alloy, secured with nickel plated steel Chicago screws. We custom made a die-formed aluminum belt plate to accommodate the 45 degree angle for the cross draw. The knife has a smooth tension fit, and the sheath is deep and secure.
  • A real Primary Edged Weapon going in to battle.
