Knife: Another fine handmade collaborative
knife by James Beauchamp and Jay Fisher. This is a very durable
and field proven tactical grade knife originally designed by a
United States Air Force Pararescueman for his use in combat, search, and rescue. The blade has a cleanly executed hollow grind and a
half-length top swage to reduce point resistance while still
maintaining superior spine strength. The blade is low maintenance in highly corrosion resistant 440C
high chromium martensitic stainless tool steel with a fully tapered tang
for perfect weight balance.
Notice that the bolsters bed with a pair of pinned and
dovetailed canvas Micarta phenolic handle scales. This is a very
tough, hard, and durable material that is chemically resistant and
waterproof, and the bead blasting gives the phenolic just the right
amount of tooth for great purchase. The
bolsters are zero-care 304 high chromium, high nickel austenitic
stainless steel. The front bolster is radiused and contoured for the
forefinger, and the rear bolster features a chamfered 5/16" lanyard
hole for extra security. The knife feels comfortable in the hand in
either forward or reverse grip.
Sheath: The sheath for this knife is one of
James Beauchamp and Jay Fisher's
positively locking military tactical combat models, made of double
thickness thermoformed kydex, 5052H32 corrosion resistant high strength aluminum,
and 304, 302, and 316 stainless steel locking mechanism and components,
bound with nickel plated steel Chicago screws and 18-8 stainless
steel machine screws. The die-formed aluminum belt loops are reversible for a variety of wear
positions.
