Knife: Here's a very nice chef's knife for a great
client, commissioned to his detail. The blade is very thin and hollow ground, a
super blade for work in the kitchen, razor keen and highly corrosion resistant
440C, with a bright, smooth, crisp grind and polish that will be very easy to
keep clean. He wanted filework just on the spine, so I chose a strong and
detailed opposing crescent pattern. The tang of the knife is lightly tapered and
smooth, mounted with 304 austenitic high chromium, high nickel 304 stainless
steel for ultimate corrosion resistance and zero care. The bolsters are
dovetailed and hold a pair of smoothly polished Australian Tiger Iron gemstone
scales, which have beautiful bands of hematite, tigereye quartz, and red jasper.
This is a rich, tough, durable gemstone material that has a great track record
on my knives. The handle is a seamless blend of steel and stone, and very
comfortable and light to the touch, with well-rounded contours and balanced
weight. This is a knife that begs to be taken to the board for some quick prep
work!
Sheath: The sheath for this knife is double
thickness kydex, a slip sheath to protect the knife and edge (and the owner)
while in the drawer or in transport. It's assembled with kydex welts to protect
the edge, and secured with nickel plated steel Chicago screws. It's a clean
sheath that should last as long as the knife.
Thanks, D. E.!
