"Ishi" fine handmade collector's knife

"Ishi" is a fine handmade work of knife art. The blade is 440C high chromium martensitic stainless steel, hollow ground and mirror finished, with full filework. The bolsters are hand engraved 304 high chromium, high nickel austenitic stainless steel, and the handle is Nephrite Jade gemstone, beautiful and very tough. The sheath is green rayskin inlaid in hand carved leather shoulder, hand stitched and sealed. The knife rests in a sculptural stand made of Goncalo Alves exotic hardwood, Red Oak and brass.

"Ishi" fine handmade custom knife, obverse side view. Curvature of blade is reminscent of a khukri or a deep belly skinner, very large and sweeping. "Ishi" reverse side view. Note deep and crisp hollow grind, fine lines in the overall design "Ishi" spine filework detail, modified vine in 1/4" thick stainless steel "Ishi" reverse side handle detail. Alaskan jade has a distinctive look, with fine seams and dark areas with some translucency. This is a very tough nephrite, one of the toughest minerals on earth. "Ishi" obverse side front bolster engraving detail. Early engraving in 304 stainless steel demonstrates how difficult this steel is to cut. "Ishi" sheathed view. This sheath is one of my display sheaths that progects the point and cutting edge while displaying the rest of the knife securely. "Ishi" sheath back detail. Full inlays of green stingray skin in green dyed leather shoulder, hand-toold and stitched "Ishi" on display stand. Knife looks great with or without sheath in this handmade stand.
