  • Knife: Malaka is named for the ancient Sumerian King of Warriors. This very nice knife has a super keen profile with an angled, piercing blade style, deeply hollow ground and mirror polished in 440C high chromium martensitic stainless tool steel blade for high corrosion resistance, a beautiful finish, and long lasting value. The blade is razor sharp with a single bevel cutting edge, and a full length top swage to reduce point and spine cross-sectional profile. The blade has a substantial thumb rise and full hand-filework in an angular diamond pattern to match the blade shape, and a very deep choil to define the termination of the cutting edge. The knife has a fully tapered tang, yet retains significant thickness for strength and nice balance, with a balance point where the forefinger rests in a forward grip style. The handle is very comfortable and secure, with hand-engraved 304 austenitic stainless steel bolsters for zero care, engraved in a pattern that compliments both the acute angles of the blade and the curves of the handle. The front bolster is deeply sculpted to frame the blade grind and support the spine and thumb rise; the rear bolster has a deep quillon to support the hand and grip. The bolsters bed a pair of Cabernet Jasper gemstone handle scales, a very hard, tough Jasper gemstone that is new on my list of gem materials. This Jasper comes from Mexico, and is over seven on the Mohs scale, so should last much longer than the metal components of the knife and should outlast the client, me, and perhaps every living person on this planet! The jasper has intriguing patterns of reds, yellows, gold, cream, and pink, all swirling in a wild pattern that only metamorphosis deep in the earth can create.
  • Sheath: The custom sheath for this knife is sculpted to accent the handle material while securing the knife, in a layered type sheath constructed of 9-10 oz. leather shoulder, hand-carved and inlaid with black stingray skin inlays in the face, back, and even in the belt loop. The sheath is dyed brown, hand-stitched with polyester sinew, lacquered and sealed.
  • A graceful investment grade knife going to a great client.

Thanks, B.M.!
