- Knife: This is a very special knife. Though you
may have noticed that it is a frequent pattern of mine, this PJLT is
the foundation of a new direction for me, and for the Enchanted
Spirits Studio. You might have noticed that the maker's mark is that
of James Beauchamp, in addition to my own mark. James has graciously
offered his services in helping make some of the new tactical knives
in the studio. James is my son-in-law, and I'm proud to have him in
the shop, learning and making the same extremely high quality custom
combat, rescue, and tactical knives that I've enjoyed making over
the past thirty years. These new Beauchamp-Fisher collaborative
knives are made to the same quality standards and execution as my
knives, and both of our hands are dedicated to these fine knives.
Both James and I are proud of this new direction and expansion in
the combat and tactical knife field, and we both look forward to
making many more knives together!
The knife is the PJLT, the Pararescue LighT combat and tactical
knife used by Pararescuemen in military rescue and combat
operations. The blade is fully hollow ground, with a thick spine for
support and a half-length swage to reduce point profile while
conserving strength. The blade has 2" of vampire rip teeth
serrations, and a fully tapered tang to reduce handle weight and
maintain balance. The blade is bolstered in the critical areas with
two pairs of dovetailed 304 stainless steel bolsters, a zero care
high nickel, high chromium stainless steel. The bolsters bed a pair
of canvas reinforced micarta phenolic scales, and the entire knife,
blade, bolsters and handle are all bead blasted for good tactile
grip and subdued wear. The edges are, of course, razor keen, and at
59HRC, will maintain a fine, hard cutting edge for a long time.
- Sheath: The sheath James and I constructed is
made of double thickness kydex, thermoformed over a .250" double
layered 5052H32 corrosion resistant aluminum frame, secured with
nickel plated steel Chicago screws. The sheath has reversible belt
loops for a variety of carry and wear options.
- This is a fine collaborative work, a super knife and sheath
destined for decades of service and value. This knife will be used
by a great client who is a rescue specialist in an urban search and
rescue team.
Thanks, C.P.!
Jay,
I received the knife, it is FANTASTIC!!! It is perfect!!! Other thing is
the sheath is really excellent, no worry about it coming loose at all.
Thank you so much and please pass my thanks on to James!!!
